A solo presentation of new paintings & unique works by coveted artist Eleanor May Watson

A Few Shells brings together a portfolio of recent work from celebrated ‘one-to-watch’ Eleanor May Watson

“My work has become a space to explore feelings of longing, to some extent desire, and adversely belonging and gratitude. All of which, happens in the home.” Eleanor May Watson

The title of this recent body of paintings and prints takes its name from a significant passage in Anne Morrow Lindburgh’s,  A Gift from the Sea (1955) which is regularly revisited by the artist and was read at her wedding.

The passage, which sits towards the end of the essay-style ‘meditations’, reflects on the importance of simplicity, solitude, and caring for the soul - that this has to begin in the nurturing world at home. Eleanor has elaborated on this - that artists, philosophers and poets are crucial in delivering a hope for the future of humanity in this globalised, (dis)connected society.

This exhibition beautifully narrates a new and evocative period of the artist’s journey, while interrogating the excavation and recording of memory and the subconscious through a glorious, bold colour palette.
